What is a Facial?

Facials can treat a variety of skin conditions as well as signs of aging to create a healthier, more youthful complexion. At Dominion Women’s Health Med Spa, we offer a selection of facials that represent a variety of skin types. Our facials have been proven to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone, and rejuvenate sun-damaged skin, and a host of other blemishes. Using tried and true methods, our facials boost collagen production, making your skin taught and youthful. Not only that, but our facials also cleanse the pores while moisturizing the skin, so that your glowing results last longer.

As with all cosmetic procedures, your appointment will begin with a consultation. This is your opportunity to share your areas of concern with our trusted estheticians and find solutions that suit your unique case. Open and honest communication in your consultation is imperative to see the results you want—make sure to tell Dr. Shaban about your medical history, your water intake, and any skincare products you use.

After an in-depth discussion and thorough skin analysis, Dr. Shaban and our estheticians will perform a skin analysis to determine your general skin types. The facial services recommended for you depend heavily on skin texture and whether your face is dry, oily, sensitive, or some combination.

How Often to Get Facials

The ideal frequency for facials depends on your skin type, concerns, and treatment goals. In general, most people benefit from a professional facial every four to six weeks, as this aligns with the skin’s natural renewal cycle. For those with specific concerns, such as acne or hyperpigmentation, more frequent treatments—every two to three weeks—may be recommended to achieve optimal results.

Types of Facials We Offer

Below, you’ll find a list of the invigorating treatments at DWH, and what they treat:

DWH Signature Facial

Our Signature Facial includes a deep cleansing and exfoliation, extractions if needed, and lymphatic drainage facial massage. A soothing masque may be used as a moisturizer to encourage hydration and keep the skin’s surface soft. This treatment takes about 60 minutes to complete and it’s great for every skin type! ($100)

Acne Facial

A must for all degrees of acne. This facial, lasting approximately 60 minutes includes cleansing the pores, extracting dead skin cells trapped in the top layer of the skin, and providing anti-inflammatory spa services for the acne patient. It is best to follow up daily with targeted products at home, with a regimen that your provider can recommend.  ($115)

Dermal Infusion

Dermal infusion is a 3 in 1 treatment that exfoliates, extracts and infuses the skin with condition-specific treatment serums in approximately 45 minutes. This treatment is ideal for all skin and can be customized to brighten, hydrate, target acne, combat aging skin, and encourage an overall youthful glow. ($150) ($45 To add on a second serum)

Cleanse and Dermaplane

A face refining treatment that removes dead skin cells from the surface, creating the perfect canvas for your makeup application. It’s also ideal for removing fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) that leaves you with smooth, beautiful skin. The basic cleans of dermaplane treatment last approximately 35 minutes.  ($75)

Express Facial

Great for people on the go looking for a refreshing skin treatment.  If you’re short on time but your complexion could use a boost, try this pick-me-up service and you’ll be on your way with glowing skin in under an hour! ($75)

Optional Add-Ons

Talk to your esthetician about adding one of the following customizations to your facial. ($25 extra)

Microdermabrasion – Deep exfoliation and pore cleansing.

Dermaplaning – Rids the face of dead skin and hair that can dull the complexion.

High Frequency – A technique that utilizes targeted thermal energy to treat acne, fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size.

LED Light Therapy – Light Emitting Diode Therapy, is a skincare treatment that uses varying wavelengths of light, including red, blue, green, and yellow – each targeting an individual concern.

Recovery and Aftercare

After the cosmetic treatment, your skin will immediately appear clearer and brighter. Seeing as it is a non-surgical procedure, there is no downtime with our facials. You may notice a mild redness immediately after the treatment, but this redness will fade quickly. DWH will recommend some skincare products to you so that your results last, and your blemishes continue to improve. In order to ensure the longevity of your results, your estheticians will recommend you apply a high-SPF sunscreen, drink plenty of water, avoid touching the treated areas, and wear minimal makeup for a few days after the treatment.
