What Are VI Peels?

The VI Peel from Vitality Institute is a medium-depth chemical peel that exfoliates the skin to renew brighter, smoother skin with a more youthful appearance. Medium-depth chemical peels penetrate the skin down to the middle layer of the skin (the dermis). Ingredients used in the VI Peel include trichloroacetic acid (TCA), phenol, salicylic acid, tretinoin, ascorbic acid, and tretinoin with retinoic acid.

This combination of ingredients stimulates collagen and elastin production while removing damaged skin cells from the surface of the skin. Damaged surface skin is replaced with new, healthy skin to strip away mild skin imperfections and restore youthful skin.

How Are VI Peels Done?

VI Peels take about 30 minutes to perform. First, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed to surface debris like oil, dirt, and makeup. The VI Peel is designed to be applied in however many layers necessary to treat the skin and your estheticians will look for what is called frosting to know when to stop applying the peel itself. The goal is to use the entire vial so it’s possible your neck and even your chest might get treated as well if your face reaches the end point quickly. The peel is self-neutralizing so you will be sent home with it still on your skin and with detailed aftercare instructions in your included aftercare kit.

Results

The VI Peel will cause moderate skin peeling that starts about three days after treatment. While the skin is peeling, apply moisturizer regularly throughout the day and avoid direct sun exposure. Allow your skin to peel naturally and do not pick at the flaking layers of skin. Peeling will occur for about one week and once it is complete, your skin will appear brighter and smoother with a youthful glow. It is recommended to do a series of 3 VI Peels 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results. During the week following the peel, you will be given detailed instructions on how to take care of the skin properly to ensure the best results happen.
